The General Administration of Customs recently issued a circular that customs anti-smuggling departments, the marine police and the public security organs recently launched a campaign to crack down on the smuggling of refined oil products.  43 suspects have been arrested and 170,000 tons of oil smuggled have been preliminarily verified, with a case value of 1.27 billion yuan.

      The notice shows that on April 20, under the unified command of the General Administration of Customs and the China National Marine Police. With the support of the anti-smuggling bureau of the customs of hangzhou, nanjing, guangzhou, dalian and other local public security organs, ningbo customs and the Marine police bureau of zhejiang province have taken simultaneous actions in several provinces.More than 400 police officers were dispatched, and more than 29,500 tons of smuggled refined oil were seized on the spot.One 437,000 tons of foreign smuggling mother ships and 4 midway transfer tankersand one oil depot and 16 oil tanks were seized.

      After investigation, since 2018, foreign tankers involved in the case have smuggled refined oil from Singapore and other places to the Chinese territorial sea east of Ningbo for many times. Oil tankers such as Shunxiang Oil 9, headed by Teng Mou, barged refined oil from foreign tankers and smuggled it to an oil depot in Zhejiang for profit.

      The customs reminds us that the sources of smuggled refined oil products are complex, the specifications are unclear, and the models are not clear. In addition, in order to evade the supervision and control of the customs, smugglers usually change hands many times during the smuggling process, which makes it difficult to guarantee the quality of the oil products and thus poses great safety risks.

      The relevant person in charge of the Anti-smuggling Bureau of the General Administration of Customs introduced that since March this year, The Customs has successfully cracked 184 cases of oil smuggling.seized 34,800 tons of refined oil, and verified the quantity of refined oil involved in the case of about 1 million tons, with a value of 6.621 billion yuan. We will effectively curb the high tide of oil smuggling.
